TAG Triumph’s Christian Iddon took his second Motorpoint British Supersport victory of the year after passing Glen Richards on the last lap in a race that saw Jack Kennedy crash out and hand the Championship lead over to Richards.

Richards took the holeshot but quickly came under pressure from Iddon. Kennedy, who’s Mar-Train team were able to re-build his bike from this morning’s qualifying session, posted two consecutive lap records to catch on to the back of the leading duo and also take pole position for tomorrow's race.

Then as the trio flicked left and then right through the Loop of the Silverstone circuit, for the third time in a week, the front end of Kennedy washed out from beneath him. The Dubliner kicked the gravel in frustration as he realised that his Championship lead had gone.

Iddon kept his patience in the slipstream of Richards all race before he moved out and, on the brakes, slipped past the Adelaide man to take the lead on the last lap. Richards was obviously struggling for rear end grip and consequently couldn’t fight back at the eventual race winner but now holds a 15.5 point lead over Kennedy, meaning he can finish in second behind Kennedy for the remaininding races and still take the crown.

The battle for third raged on behind with all five riders covered by less than half a second. Billy McConnell, Richard Cooper, Glenn Irwin and Graeme Gowland all held it at one stage but as they came through to start the last lap it was Cooper who held the advantage. He pulled out a second lead on the last lap to cement the last podium spot. McConnell took fourth ahead of Ben Wilson, Gowland and Glenn Irwin.

777RR Triumph’s Luke Jones took eighth ahead of his team-mate Pauli Pekkanen and Gearlink new-boy James East, who took advantage of Nikki Coates’ crash on the penultimate lap.
