Silverstone BSB: Chatter still a concern for Brookes

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes is still battling with the chatter that has made his life less than comfortable at the Silverstone MCE British Superbike round but says he has reduced it to a couple of places on the track.

The championship leader bagged a front-row start for tomorrow's opening leg but thinks one fast lap isn't all that important at the long and very fast Northamptonshire circuit. He bounced back from a crash this morning and has the Brookes look which usually means he is very confident of good results tomorrow.

"It is good to be back on the front row, especially as it has been a difficult day for me as I fell off this morning. It was my own mistake at Stowe, I grabbed the brakes to wash off some speed as I was going in a bit hot and the front let go and I was away," said Brookes.

"It is hard on the bike when you crash there as it is so fast and it gave the team some work to do, but they gave me a bike this afternoon that felt really good and exactly as before I crashed. The general story here for me has been to cure the chatter and we have done a good job to narrow it down and in that qualifying session it was still a practice run.

"The bike felt the best it had all weekend so we are heading in the right direction. I knew I needed a fast lap time so I feel confident for the races again as I wasn't super pumped yesterday about our position but I am happy now.

"Today was more about working on the bike set-up than busting out a lap time, as in my opinion, that won't amount to much tomorrow."
