Silverstone BSB: One podium 'not enough' for Brookes

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes slipped to nine points behind MCE British Superbike title leader Shane Byrne at Silverstone scoring hard-fought fourth and third places but said that one podium is not enough to win the championship.

The Bringelly man, who will remain with the team in 2013 and more than likely have PJ Jacobsen beside him, was downbeat after the double header and struggled to make his tyres work over the whole of a race distance.

“I went for the softer tyre in the first race but the performance was very poor so we went for the harder one in the second, thinking let’s give it a try even that it is not my preferred tyre but we made it work," said Brookes.

“The second race was hard work and I am quite disappointed to take third but I couldn’t find the confidence or the speed and I am not sure where we went wrong. It was good to be on the podium but I expected a bit more from me and the team. One podium is not enough to win the championship."
