WFR Honda’s Alex Lowes wrapped up a clean sweep of MCE British Superbike pole positions in the Showdown after beating Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne by 0.209 of a second.

Lowes topped all three qualifying sessions and didn’t succumb to Byrne’s pressure in the final eight-minute session. Fellow WFR rider James Westmoreland jumped up from the second row to take third on the grid with the chequered flag out, just ahead of Barry Burrell who claimed both Buildbase BMW’s and the Durham rider's first-ever front row start.

Samsung Honda’s Michael Laverty heads the second row after jumping ahead of fellow title fighters Josh Brookes and a still struggling Tommy Hill. Karl Harris rounds out the second row for the first of three races this afternoon. Peter Hickman and Stuart Easton head the third row after this afternoon’s qualifying.

Qualifying two

Alex Lowes 1’26.209

Michael Laverty 1’26.397

Barry Burrell 1’26.429

Supersonic BMW’s Tommy Bridewell was the first of the Title Fighters to fall, still struggling with his left hand after a crash yesterday and then an operation late last night, he could only manage 13th. Splitlath Aprilia’s Jakub Smrz couldn’t pull out some of his usual qualifying magic as he was left in 15th with Swan Yamaha’s Nori Haga even further back in 19th.

Michael Laverty 1’26.549

Shane Byrne 1’26.627

Padgett's Honda’s Luca Scassa crashed out on the exit of Stirlings causing the red flag to be brought out due to his Honda being strewn across the track. However, the Italian managed to get back out on track and with the chequered flag out he moved out of elimination and into 20th place, pushing his team-mate Jason O’Halloran out of qualifying. Swan Yamaha’s Nori Haga also left it late as he jumped out of elimination with under a minute left on the clock.
