Former British 250cc Champion and Superbike regular Scott Smart will renew rivalries with Stuart Easton and Glen Richards when he moves into the Supersport class with TAG Triumph in 2013.
The Maidstone rider finished runner up to Easton's works Ducati 748 during the 2002 British Supersport season and will be scrapping with the Hawick rider again. Smart, who will ride one of three Oxford Products-backed Daytona 675Rs, has Richards, an ex-Hawk Kawasaki team-mate, also in his sights.
"It's going to be great season I think as Supersport looks at least as strong as Superbike in terms of competition. It's going to be tough though as Stuart is fast, Glen is fast. Graeme Gowland is in there too, as is young Glenn Irwin, so there's plenty of quick men," said Smart, speaking to bikesportnews.com last night.
"There's also my team-mates Richard Cooper, who had a good first year in 2012, and then John Simpson who has shown how quick he can be with his Manx victory. I have my old Hawk crew chief Lee too, which is a bonus, so it's a strong line-up."
