Gearlink Kawasaki's duo of Ben Wilson and Alastair Seeley were back to business in familiar British Supersport style, with Seeley coming home in third, just ahead of Wilson in this afternoon's first race. Their battle for the final podium spot was reminiscent of their iconic battle here at Brands Hatch in the summer of 2011.
Team Manager Mike de Bidaph has the difficult job of keeping his team a team, but as he pointed out, both riders are out for themselves and hungry for race victories.
"Qualifying was quite difficult with Ben suffering some electrical issues and then missing half of the session. We were able to get them back out there but lost some time to sort his setup. We had to guess rear suspension setup for the race but it clearly worked. The race was very good and it's good to see them both contending and of course, to get on the podium too." said Gearlink's team manager, Mike de Bidaph, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"I know that they are both sensible enough not to take each other out because that's the worst thing that could happen. It won't be tolerated though. There'll be no team orders throughout the year because you've got to let them battle. They are both racers, they are both hungry to win.
"They don't share data because Ben and Alastair are out for themselves. We try to help them both be up at the front but they're not going to help each other. As far as tomorrow goes, we have Gearlink Kawasaki first and second on the grid and hopefully first and second at the end of the race. I'm not sure which way round they will be though."
