Thruxton BSB: Wilson needs 'more pace'

Gearlink Kawasaki rider Ben Wilson was pipped to the top spot twice in both Motorpoint British Supersport practice sessions today, finishing fifth in the wet this morning, and third in the dry this afternoon. But the Lincoln based rider is adamant that he can do better and reach pole position in qualifying tomorrow, and even the top spot on the podium on Sunday.

"Today was ok, the first session was a bit off the pace for me, and I was a second and a half behind my team-mate. I did not want to risk anything and I didn't want to stick my head out. It was ok though because we ended up being quickest in the second bit, but got pipped in the end. But tomorrow we know what job we have got to do, and we have to be on the top step," said Wilson, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit,

"We had both wet and dry practice today, which is good for which ever weather it is tomorrow. We are not on the back foot like we were at Brands Hatch, because we ended up missing some of the sessions there, and we are confident for tomorrow so we are just looking forward to Saturday now."

Wilson understands that his team-mate Alastair Seeley is fast in the wet around the Thruxton circuit, and knows he is going to be the one to beat this weekend.

"I just need to go faster tomorrow, in the wet Alastair was really fast around here in 2011, and he obviously knows something I don't around here, but I was not going to try anything silly. I know I have got more pace in the tank, and I will use it when I need to use it."
