Samsung Honda rider Alex Lowes set the fastest lap time of 1'17.329 in the final MCE British Superbike free practice session of the day.
But the Lincolnshire rider only completed three laps during the forty five minute session, due to the changing weather conditions. With thirty minutes left remaining of free practice rain started to fall on the circuit, and many racers decided not to venture out for most of the session.
Reigning BSB champion Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki's Shane Byrne, set the second fastest time of 1'17.734, and he was closely followed by Tyco Suzuki rider Josh Brookes who ended the session with a time of 1'18.369. Lloyds British GBMoto Honda's Peter Hickman was fourth fastest out on track with young Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider Danny Buchan rounding off the top five.
Former World Superbike rider Jakub Smrz did brave the adverse weather, and had a solid session for only his third time out on the Thruxton circuit, and when the chequered flag came down he finished the final session in tenth overall with a time of 1'22.276.
It was a pretty uneventful final free practice session, and the only riders who managed ten laps were Two Wheel Racing Honda rider Jenny Tinmouth and Rapido Sport Racing Ducati's Matteo Baicco, but both failed to make a dent on the top ten.
