Thruxton BSB: Lowes ‘happy’ with four podiums

Samsung Honda rider Alex Lowes completed his goal of getting two podiums at Thruxton today. He came third in race one, and did one better in race two. The Lincolnshire lad is currently second in the overall championship standings, and has not been off the podium yet this season.

“We had four podiums in the first four races, and it is nice to get these races out of the way, and I am happy with the four podiums and I am looking forward to the rest of the year. Four podiums is what I wanted and battling with James, Shakey and Josh is lots of fun and I really enjoy it,” said the cheeky twin.

Lowes had some changes made to his bike, and the improvements obviously made an impact, as he narrowly clinched second spot on the podium, after some epic battles with Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and Milwaukee Yamaha rider James Ellison.

“My bike felt a lot better for race two, and we made some changes in between the races. But there were a lot of safety cars in the race today and I want to wish all the best to those who had crashes today, as it is a fast place here and I want them to be alright.

“It would nice to win a race again, but if I keep focusing hard and working hard [first place] will come up sooner or later.”
