Knockhill BSB: Free practice a ‘struggle’ for Ellison

Milwaukee Yamaha rider James Ellison struggled with his bike setup on the first day of MCE British Superbike free practice sessions at Knockhill. He failed to get into the top ten fastest times in both sessions, and had to settle for sixteenth this morning, but was able to improve to end the day fifteenth quickest on the time-sheets.

The sessions took place in dry conditions and both Ellison and team-mate Josh Waters continued to push for improvement throughout free practice, but the Scottish circuit proved to be a challenge for the Milwaukee Yamaha team and Ellison is now looking to make some big steps forward tomorrow.

“We have obviously had a few problems today; they are little things here and there which at this track make the difference. At the other circuits we have been able to roll straight out and be somewhere closer to where we need to be, but today that just hasn’t happened,” said Ellison.

“I have been really struggling for feel and also been rushing into the corners and then running out of room which has cost me time. I usually carry a lot of corner speed and so maybe we need to try something a bit different tomorrow. We have made some good changes throughout the day though and we know what we need to focus on to make improvements.”
