Snetterton BSB: Seeley storms to Supersport pole

Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley stormed to Motorpoint British Supersport pole position in emphatic style, setting the fastest ever Supersport lap around the Snetterton 300 circuit.

Profile Triumph's Luke Mossey held provisional pole for the majority of the session before the red flag came out with ten minutes remaining. Northern Irishmen, Seeley, set a blistering lap of 1'51.281, a quarter of a second under his own circuit record lap from 2011, on his first flying lap. Smiths Triumph's Billy McConnell got closest to Seeley and secured second, however the Adelaide rider was still 0.653 of a second adrift of the former champion.

Seton Yamaha's Graeme Gowland recovered from an engine blow up yesterday to take third quickest ahead of Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran. Knockhill double winner Ben Wilson was unable to hang on to a front row start, getting bumped down to fifth in the closing minutes ahead of the fastest cup competitor, Jake Dixon, and Luke Mossey. Richard Cooper rounds out the second row, just over a second adrift of the pole lap time.

Mar-Train Yamaha's Glenn Irwin heads the third row, despite crashing out at Montreal with the chequered flag out, ahead of his team-mate and championship leader Stuart Easton. The wee Scotsman will have to put on a repeat performance from Knockhill if he is to hold on to his one point championship advantage in the sprint race this afternoon. Tyco Suzuki's Taylor Mackenzie and Profile Triumph's Luke Stapleford round out the third row.
