Snetterton BSB: Lap records smashed at the 300 circuit

Today has been a day that has witnessed lap records being smashed at the Snetterton 300 circuit, with both Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes, and Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne both setting times that were faster than the MCE British Superbike best lap and circuit lap records this morning.

In the Motorpoint Supersport class Gearlink Kawasaki’s Alastair Seeley did the double after he lapped a 1'51.281, a quarter of a second under his own circuit record lap from 2011, and setting the fastest ever Supersport lap in the process.

Byrne broke his own lap record that he set back in 2011 with a 1’48.342 in today’s final free practice session, to place him at the top of the timesheets. But Lowes, on his final lap did one better and clocked a 1’48.316, smashing the previous best lap, which was set by Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes last year. The Derby lad did it in emphatic style, by going faster by one tenths of a second.
