Graeme Gowland's future in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship is in doubt after Seton Yamaha team boss Phil Seton revealed the team is struggling financially and may not be at the Brands Hatch round.
The former Spanish Supersport Champion had a successful Snetterton meeting under difficult conditions as his engine let go on Friday and Seton had to borrow motor from a customer in order to continue with the weekend.
Gowland managed to qualify in third and then take sixth and fourth in the two races, consolidating fifth place in the championship but it could all have been for nought if Seton can't find a sponsor.
“That was a very tough weekend and the whole team have put a lot of work into getting the results. We don’t have the finances to do what we need to compete effectively at Supersport level at the moment and can only build one engine per round," said Seton.
"With a technical issue with Graeme’s bike on Friday we were on the back foot. I had to borrow an engine from a customer and use parts from the two to make one.
"We may be struggling and if a replacement sponsor doesn’t come on board I may be forced to withdraw Graeme from the Supersport class - a situation I don’t relish being faced with now he has solidified fifth in the championship.”
