Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes is adamant that a good start in tomorrow’s British Superbike race at Brands Hatch is what is needed for him to win his first race of the season.
The Aussie will start from the front row after clocking the third fastest time in Q3, after dominating the two previous sessions and topping the timesheets. Brookes is now fed up with finishing in second or third, and is after a victory, especially as he feels his bike is continuing to improve.
“I am happy to be consistent enough to be on the front row which is where we need to be to start the races and if I can get a good start here and box these guys in for a few laps maybe we will be on more equal terms after a few laps, so I look forward to that,” said Brookes, speaking at the circuit.
“I’m not disappointed with today. I’m just deep in thought to figure out what the next step is going be: if it’s in gearing or spring rates in suspension or riding position. What’s going to bring another couple of tenths for me to be able to better or equal the guys I’m trying to rival?
“I don’t want to settle for second or thirds. I want to win. Everyone has done a great job, and we’ve made great improvements throughout the weekend so far, and the bike is running brilliant, we’ve just got to keep making that progress.”
