Graeme Gowland has split with his Seton Yamaha Motorpoint British Supersport team despite bagging a podium finish in the second race at Brands Hatch on Sunday.
The team has been through a tough financial time with boss Phil Seton admitting before the Brands round that it might be the end. They did race but Gowland feels there is too much uncertainty.
"The team has worked tirelessly this season in order to give Graeme the most competitive package possible with the Yamaha YZF-R6, and has been rewarded with fifth in the championship, plus a pole and podium at the last round," said Seton.
"We know that our bike can run at the sharp end and can make a serious challenge for race wins. It is a great shame that Graeme has taken this decision and I am now actively seeking a replacement rider of the highest calibre ahead of Oulton Park."
It is not sure where Gowland will land but bikesportnews.com knows of two options for the former motocrosser.
