Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Keith Farmer has not had the best of starts to his MCE British Superbike weekend at Oulton Park, after firstly experiencing a huge crash on Friday afternoon, which resulted in his team having to build a completely new bike. Then during the opening race yesterday the rider had an engine blow out and after causing a red flag found himself at the back of the grid.

Farmer’s luck can only get better, and the youngster is trying to think positive. After two big crashes he was fortunate enough not to come away with any injuries, but the falls have certainly cost his team owner, Paul Bird a lot of money, as it is reported that the damage to his Kawasaki on Friday was around fourty five thousand pounds.

“My weekend did not start that good to be honest, in free practice two I was on my third lap and I wasn’t pushing hard and next thing I went down at Old Hall, and it went end over end and I completely tucked the front and absolutely wrecked the bike,” said Farmer, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

“Luckily I got away with it and I didn’t have a mark on me, but poor Paul and the boys they put in some hard work and built a brand new bike. Everything is brand new built from spares. It is bit hard to step on to a new bike, but the boys did as great job, and we had a good qualifying. But because we put in a new engine and new hose clips they were not wired, and it was one of those things in race one and I crashed. We then had a re-start and I was at the back of the grid, but I was lucky enough to have another attempt to race.

“We will forget about Friday and Saturday and move on, as there is nothing else I can really do and Oulton has not been good to me this year at all, but you can not think like that and we will move on and it should be better on Sunday.”
