Barry Burrell made his return to the MCE British Superbike series at Oulton Park over the weekend, after replacing Danny Buchan and joining forces with Chris Walker in the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team.
Burrell has been competing in the German Superbike series but when the call came to join the championship that he is so familiar with, he jumped at the chance and is ‘chuffed’ to be back in the series.
“I am chuffed to be back to be fair, it is where I wanted to be all year. We have had a difficult weekend but we have not had the best results, but now I want to progress on to Cadwell," said Burrell, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
“There was not much else to do than go to Germany with their official Suzuki team as there were no decent rides left in England. I would go back, but only with the right team and bike. But the Kawasaki suits me and there is no reason we can’t push on for twelfth and fifteenth place. Even though I struggled a bit with grip I still felt I could keep up with the guy in front."
Burrell hopes to stay in the BSB series with the aim of remaining with the Quattro Plant team till the end of the season. The rider failed to get into the points over the last three races after some technical issues hampered any progress, but he did get his best result in the race two, crossing the finishing line in sixteenth.
“The aim is to stay right to the end at Brands with the team and hopefully we can have a good run for the final rounds.”
