Donington BSB: ‘We still have a lot of work to do’ - Lowes

Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes insists that he still has a lot of work to do going into the opening MCE British Superbike race tomorrow at his home track of Donington Park. The Derby lad narrowly missed out on pole by two tenths of a second from Buildbase BMW rider James Westmoreland.

Lowes enjoys this track, and is pleased that he out paced rivals Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes to place himself on the front row, alongside Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison.

“We have got a lot of work to do to get a better feeling with the bike but it was alright, we did stuff wrong really, which is good in a way so we know not what to do tomorrow,” said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“It is a track I enjoy so we will be OK, and I am in front of Shakey and Josh and the other boys. It was a great ride by Westmoreland, he was my team-mate last year and this is one of his best tracks. But the race is totally different, we need to find something in the morning warm up so that we are a bit more confident to race.”
