Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes got back to back MCE British Superbike race wins at his home track of Donington Park, and now the rider vows to ‘give it anything’ during the final Showdown rounds.
It must have felt like déjà-vu for the Derby lad as he was locked in a battle for first with Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne in both races, and twice the 22-year-old managed to out pace the reigning champion. Only six points now separate the two riders and Lowes hopes to continue his winning form going into the final three rounds.
“Today’s races have been good and I really enjoyed the second race and I don’t think I have ever pushed as hard in the last part of a race to win," said Lowes, speaking at the circuit.
"It was a great race and Shakey past me on the last lap and came past me at such a speed and I panicked a bit and made sure I past him on the chicane. The gap is now quite close and if that is a sign of things to come in the Showdown then I am sure that would be lots of fun.
“I enjoy every track we go to and I am going to give it everything I have got, and I am looking forward to it. Assen is good and it is a bit different as you go to a race aboard and I can't wait. I will be back in the gym tomorrow and will come out fighting."
