Assen BSB: Bridewell still 'adapting' to new bike

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Tommy Bridewell made his debut with his new team at the MCE British Superbike free practice sessions in Assen today, and even though the Devizes swearbox had a big crash in the opening practice outing he is ‘happy enough’ with his performance.

Bridewell is partnering title fighter James Ellison in the Milwaukee garage and takes the place of Aussie rider Josh Waters. The racer is still finding his feet and has spent today adapting his riding style to suit the Yamaha.

After his crash, Bridewell was taken to the medical centre to have his little finger examined earlier this morning, but came back determined to use the much-needed track time to improve his race pace, and ended the sessions today with the 10th fastest time.

“The Milwaukee Yamaha feels good; it’s obviously a lot different to what I have ridden this season, so I have been adapting my riding style a bit today. For sure when I have done some more laps I will get the best out of the Yamaha and be faster,” said Bridewell.

“The crash this morning lost us a bit of time and it was at about 100mph; I have caught my finger but nothing serious. This afternoon I found my feet; the position isn’t beautiful but I am happy enough as I know we have more to come still, so thanks to the team for their efforts today.”
