Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran claimed his first ever Motorpoint British Supersport pole position this morning at Silverstone, posting the fastest-ever British Supersport time around the Northamptonshire circuit.
Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley was the early pace-setter holding on to provisional pole position for the first half of the session. The Northern Irishmen showing signs of recovery, after suffering with rib injuries for the past three rounds. Seeley was pushed back to second, however, by Luke Mossey with nine minutes remaining. The Profile Triumph rider is also beginning to find full fitness after breaking a couple of vertebrae earlier in the year.
Mossey was unable to hold on to pole for long with Australian O'Halloran finding the pace to jump to the top of the timesheets. Mar-Train Yamaha's Stuart Easton then jumped to the top of the pile with five minutes left, before O'Halloran posted the fastest-ever British Supersport lap of 2'10.008 and in doing so, made certain of his first pole position in Supersport.
Scotsman Easton held on to second ahead of Luke Mossey, who will line up on the front row for the once again after claiming second at Assen a fortnight ago. Championship contender, Seeley heads the second row but is only 0.381 of a second adrift of O'Halloran. Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson is fifth ahead of TAG Triumph's Richard Cooper.
Appleyard Macadam's Graeme Gowland heads the third row of the grid ahead of Northern Irishman Glenn Irwin and Smiths Triumph's Billy McConnell. Tyco Suzuki's Taylor Mackenzie is tenth on the grid after crashing out on what would have been his fastest lap and eleventh on the grid is Glen Richards, who only completed four laps after suffering a mechanical problem just ten minutes into the session. Luke Stapleford completes the fourth row, two seconds off of the pace.
