Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley claimed a vital seventh victory of the year this afternoon at Silverstone, taking full advantage of championship leader, Stuart Easton, crashing out.
The Northern Irishman battled through from the second row of the grid to take the win with a last lap move on Jason O'Halloran, closing the championship lead down to nine points.
"I saw Stuart slip off on the first lap and thought I have to get a good result here for maximum points. It was a bit argy-bargy out there, I think I touched Billy [McConnell], Jason [O'Halloran] and Luke [Mossey] at least once but it was good close racing," said Seeley, speaking to bikesportnews.com from his garage.
"When I was stuck in fourth behind the two Triumphs and that allowed Jason to get quite a gap. Once I got past the two guys ahead of me, I got my head down and reeled Jason in, posting some real good lap times in doing so.When I got with Jason he seemed to put up a good fight. On the last lap I held my own line at the Loop and Jason dived under me for the left but he was carrying that much corner speed he ran on to the curb and scrubbed off too much speed. I defended my line in the final complex and drove it to the line and came across to win.
"We were struggling in a couple of areas but hopefully we can rectify that for tomorrow, apart from that the bike was working pretty well and it was coming into its own the further we went into the race. I'm looking forward to tomorrow and I'm not going to let this championship go without a fight."
