Silverstone BSB: Reeves bags fifth British Sidecar title

Multiple world sidecar champion, TT winner and general show-off Tim Reeves, with brother Tris in the danger seat, secured his fifth British title at Silverstone today, holding off a late charge from the Birchalls to take victory in the first race of the weekend.

The Kent man, who has been backed by Robin Croft's SMT outfit this year, took three second lead from the start of this evening's outing but despiye having a cooked rear, managed to hold off the Birchall brothers for the win.

“It is really good to be champions and I am over the moon. I am not too worried about the race tomorrow as the job is done, and we will have a few beers tonight. But a massive thanks to all my team and my sponsors and to Brains, who works for Paul Bird’s team as he had prepared the engine for me for this week," said Reeves.

"This is my fifth British title, and it is good to do it with a big team and I am just speechless really. I am going to have 38 tons of beer now. I am chuffed really because I took a year out of the world championship and we have beaten our rivals, and now I am going to get some champagne down my throat."
