WD40 Motorsport's Joe Francis secured the Monster Energy British Moto3 Championship this afternoon at Silverstone, coming home as the fifth Moto3 bike. The 15-year old has won three races on his way to the title, this weekend at Silverstone being the first time all year he hasn't stepped on to the podium.
Similarly, SP125's Tom Carne wrapped up the British 125 Championship with a third place finish in this afternoon's race. The Manchester based rider has taken four victories along the way to the title, finishing on the podium at every round this year.
"We couldn't have asked for a better year really. We've been consistent, finishing every race, and that's whats made us champions. I was with the leading group in that race but I ran off the track, so I didn't risk trying to catch up. I made sure everything was okay, let them go and brought it home safe," said Francis, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
