Profile Techcare Triumph's Luke Mossey stormed to first Motorpoint British Supersport victory in emphatic style this afternoon at Silverstone, coming home on top after a four rider dice for the win.
Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley took the holeshot but quickly came under fire from Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran. The leading duo began to pull away before the safety car was brought out on lap four after Dutchman Kervin Bos crashed out.
The race restarted with O'Halloran in the lead and the duo were unable to pull away at the second attempt, with Smiths Triumph's Billy McConnell taking fighting past both O'Halloran and Seeley to take the lead. Meanwhile, championship leader Stuart Easton was stuck in seventh place after starting from tenth on the grid.
At half race distance, Smiths Triumph's Glen Richards crashed out in spectacular style at Chapel Curve, promoting Easton to sixth. Mossey began to charge through the field, taking the lead on lap nine before being bundled back to fourth a lap later in a tremendous battle for the lead.
With just two laps remaining, Seeley tried to dive under the inside of O'Halloran at the Loop but there was no gap there and the pair collided. O'Halloran ended in the gravel for the second time this weekend through no fault of his own and the incident is under investigation.
McConnell led as they started the last lap but he couldn't hold on to the lead as Mossey edged the Australian on the brakes in to Stowe corner. McConnell tried to fight back but had to settle for twenty points for the second time this weekend. Mossey took the chequered flag to secure his first Supersport victory in just his second round back in action after breaking some vertebrae earlier in the year.
Gearlink's Seeley took third with Mar-Train Yamaha's Easton battling through to take fourth and make sure he holds a six point championship lead as they head into the final round at Brands Hatch.
Ben Wilson had to settle for fifth place ahead of Graeme Gowland and Glenn Irwin. Richard Cooper ended the race in eighth with Taylor Mackenzie and Luke Stapleford rounding out the top ten.
