Milwaukee Yamaha’s Tommy Bridewell claimed his first double podium in the MCE British Superbike races at Silverstone and the rider is happy with his bike and his performances this weekend.
The second race proved to be more difficult for the Devizes lad, but he showed that he had the pace to run with the forerunners of Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes and Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne. Bridewell successfully made his way up the grid and challenged Tyco Suzuki team-mates PJ Jacobsen and Josh Brookes.
Now the Brit is focusing on the next round at Brands Hatch and is confident that he can challenge for another podium, but thinks that the races will be even harder than the ones his experienced today.
“The race was difficult, I got behind Josh and PJ and I knew I had the pace to run with Shakey and I didn’t think Josh and PJ did. I had a bit of a ding dong with Josh and I should have had a go at Alex, but I think I would have wiped both of us out if I had tried to make a move on him," said Bridewell, speaking at the circuit.
“I think where we are lacking is that I cant pick the pace up but I am happy as it is the first double podium for me, I am pretty happy with how the bike has performed and hopefully I can build on it for Brands and I am confident that I can fight for the podium again. I don’t mind Brands as I can ride fast there and I think the Yamaha will work well there too, but I think it will be harder.”
