Silverstone BSB: Eighth place ‘feels like a win’ for Baiocco

Rapido Sport Racing’s Matteo Baiocco came away from the MCE British Superbike weekend at Silverstone with his best ever result in the series, an eighth place in race two, which the Italian rider has compared to a ‘win’.

Baiocco has been making steady progress all year and over the last few rounds has been targeting top ten finishes. His team have been working hard on his Panigale, and the rider feels that he is closing in on the other big teams in the championship, and is ready to target top eighth finishes at Brands Hatch in two weeks time.

“I am very happy because I enjoyed a lot of the race, and I did many overtaking manoeuvres as I was sixteenth after the first lap. I think the gap between the three or four teams is big so eighth is like a win for us, and it was a good weekend,” said Baiocco, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

“The most important change this weekend was my engineer and we made a little change in the rear between race one and two and the bike is riding well. It is possible to have a better weekend at Brands Hatch and it's possible to have another week in the top ten, and why not!”
