Brands BSB: Easton wins Supersport title in dramatic finale

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Stuart Easton claimed his second Motorpoint British Supersport title after battling past Alastair Seeley in a dramatic, weather effected, final race. The wee Scotsman knew he had to win the race to win the crown and that’s exactly what he did.

A matter of two years ago, Easton sustained horrendous injuries during the North West 200 but he fought back to fitness and despite struggling in the British Superbike Championshiop last year, the pocket Haggis looks to be back to his best.

"Unbelievable. I’ve always wanted to win a British title and it’s been a long time since I won my last. It’s nice to win again especially after coming back last year from my injuries. I mean, everybody knows what they were and how big they were, bottom line it was tough and go for my life at one stage in 2011. We came back last year and it was tough but regrouped in Supersport and we’ve ended up winning ten races and the Championship. I’m riding good, hard and I’m prepared to do what I have to do," said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com after the race.

"I just had to win, that was it. If I was finishing second I may as well have crashed, it was win it or bin it. I was giving everything I had and more. I had to win and that is all there was to it."
