TAG Racing will make the switch to the MCE British Superbike Championship next year and will use Kawasaki power although no riders have been announced.
The Swadlincote-based team, which has run officially-supported Triumphs in British Supersport since 2009, will run two ZX-10Rs in the Superbike class, with an additional two entries in the National Superstock 1000 championship.
“We’ve been considering a switch to superbikes for a while now and feel that the time is right for us to take on this new challenge,” said team boss Rob Winfield.
“The championship rules allow privately run teams like ours to compete on a level playing field and we are confident that we have the experience and resources to step up and contribute to what is one of the world’s most exciting race series.
“As a team, we have learned a great deal racing in the supersport class and have proved ourselves through a series of race wins, pole positions and fastest laps. We’ve worked hard over the years to put out a professional team and we are delighted that this has been recognised by Kawasaki Motors UK and MSVR, who have both welcomed our move into the Superbike class. Racing in Superbike will not only provide us with a fresh sporting challenge but will give considerably more exposure for our team sponsors.”
