Burrell keen to stay in BSB for next season

Barry Burrell is still looking for a competitive ride so he can return to the MCE British Superbike series for another year. The rider from County Durham joined the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team halfway through this season, but unfortunately lost his seat for 2014 as he could not find a sponsor in time.

Burrell has not given up on finding a team for next season and wants to be a Showdown contender but needs a good team and bike behind him so that he can realise his dream. But he has not ruled out going to World Superbike one day to compete in the Evo class.

“It was difficult coming through to the BSB season halfway through with the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team, but it was nice to come home after being in Germany in the Superbike Championship over there and it is great to be in a place where they speak to same language,” said Burrell, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“The good thing about the year was that I was eighth in the dry in the final round, and I was hoping to stay with the team for 2014, but I couldn’t find a sponsor in time and Howie Mainwaring Smart and Dan Linfoot got the ride. I have been trying hard to get something sorted and finding something that is competitive too.

"I would like to try and do the Evo class in World Superbikes, but I want to prove myself in the UK first before I do that. But I need the right bike and team to do it, I could have a ride signed sealed and delivered but I don’t just want to sign for anyone. I want a competitive ride and hopefully get in the Showdown or near it and then challenge for the championship and then move into the Worlds.”
