Honda BSB announcement in 'not too distant future'

With most of the major MCE British Superbike teams now confirmed for the 2014 season, Honda still haven’t made any noises about who they will run next year and will make an announcement in the 'not too distant future'.

Honda have announced their roads team of John McGuinness and Conor Cummins and will run Sebastien Gimbert, Freddy Foray and Julien Da Costa in World Endurance though there is nothing confirmed on the domestic front. The Honda Legends brand is now defunct.

Reigning champion Alex Lowes will switch to World Superbikes with Voltcom Suzuki but that has not been made official due to contractural reasons and the only two unconfirmed riders left that are capable of winning the championship, Shane Byrne and Michael Laverty, look to be in the Paul Bird camp for 2014 with Laverty testing in Spain with the team on Monday – although the Penrith chicken magnate has been silent on his plans over recent weeks.

“We are still working on plans for 2014 and hope to be in a position to communicate more information in the not too distant future,” said Honda spokesman Tom Hobbs.
