Buildbase BMW’s Michael Dunlop will not ride at this weekend’s MCE British Superbike round at Oulton Park, preferring to rest the arm he injured in a crash at Brands in readiness for the North West 200.
Dunlop crashed in the tricky qualifying conditions and even though he ventured out in one of the Superbike races on Easter Monday, he believes more recovery time is required ahead of the first Interational road race of the year.
“Michael Dunlop was to be racing this weekend as part of his practice, but after slipping off during qualifying at Brands Hatch, he’s sensibly resting up ahead of the North West 200 race. We’ll get him back for another round in due course, but his and the team’s focus is, of course, racing at the Isle of Man TT on the 75th anniversary of BMW Motorrad’s great victory,” said team boss Stuart Hicken.
