Oulton BSB: Easton hails ‘best start’ to race weekend

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton had a solid start to his Oulton Park MCE British Superbike campaign at Oulton Park.

He was narrowly pipped to the post in the second free practice session by Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes, but the Scot still managed to lap consistently in the 1’35’s leaving him feeling positive ahead of qualifying tomorrow.

Easton’s best lap of 1’35.733 was enough to place him second fastest on the timesheets, and even out-paced team-mate Shane Byrne in this afternoon’s session, after the triple champ experienced technical problems.

His team have been working hard on finding the correct setup – and Easton feels they have finally nailed it for this weekend at the Cheshire circuit.

“It is good obviously for me to get near to the top of the timesheets, but it’s only free practice and we have qualifying tomorrow, but it is a good start for me. We have found a good setup after going backwards and forwards all day – but I am now happy with the feeling with the bike," said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track this evening.

"What pleased me the most was lapping consistently well inside the 1’35’s and it is a good starting point for us going into tomorrow. I feel solid on the bike and everyone is working hard.

"I am hoping to continue to make small improvements throughout the weekend and this is a tricky track, but I am happy at the moment, and this is the best start that I could have hoped for.”
