GBmoto Kawasaki’s James Ellison has kept his bike setup pretty much the same as the last time he was at Brands Hatch – but from the Indy track, and appears the lack of changes have paid off, as he was able to get on the front row during the MCE British Superbike qualifying session.
Ellison set the third fastest time during Q3 with a 1’26.385, to make up an all Kawasaki front row. He will be joined by his team-mate Chris Walker who was two tenths of a second quicker to bag second, from Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne.
The rider made a slight mistake on his flying lap, but a part from that he was happy with his pace, and is prepared for more podiums in the double-header tomorrow.
“It was so hot out there, but we have to deal with it. There will be a lot of laps tomorrow and it will be hard work but it is the same for everybody,” said Ellison, speaking at the track.
“The bike has been working well all weekend, and the bike has been setup pretty much the same as from the first round at the Indy circuit, and the gearing is the same too.
“So we have got all the information all ready. I thought I could squeeze a little bit more out of the bike in qualifying and I thought one of us might dip into the 1’25’s by the track was too hot. I made one mistake in that qualifying session and the rest of it felt really clean – so I am happy going into the races tomorrow.”
