Oulton BSB: A hat-trick of podiums for Byrne

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne did not make it on to the top step of the podium during the MCE British Superbike weekend at Oulton Park, and had to contend with two thirds and a second.

All this helps when it comes to podium credits and he has secured his place in the coveted Showdown. The rider was not feeling 100 percent fully fit after a push bike crash earlier this week, but he still had the pace to fight for the rostrum, but second and third was not really on his agenda in race three.

“That was a tough race and I don’t know what Josh did in the first part of the race but he was unbelievable. Every now and again the rain flag would come out then go back in and Josh went further and further away and I was never going to catch him, so I was happy for second,” said Byrne.

“I wasn’t entirely sure who was behind me then Dan came past and then he made a small mistake and then I was able to go back past, and then I got second. Two thirds and a second was not what we come racing for, but I would like to thank my team for all their hard work.”
