Millsport Ducati’s Jakub Smrz has been ruled out from the rest of the MCE British Superbike race weekend at Cadwell Park, after breaking his left wrist in two places after a crash during the second free practice session.
The incident happened at Hall Bend, after the rider clipped a curb, causing him to high-side over the handle bars. The Czech Republic rider is now on his way to the Hull Royal Infirmary to have the wrist operated and plated this evening.
“It is too early to say if he will be back for Donington, but we could be aiming for a return at Assen, but we are not sure yet, till the wrist has been operated on. In the first crash this morning, he was unhurt, but the second crash was worse as he clipped the curb at Hall Bend,” said Millsport Ducati’s race engineer, Steve Moore, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
“I just want to thank all the medical staff at Cadwell for their help with x-rays and getting Jakub into the hospital to be operated on this evening. But this injury means that he is out for the rest of the race weekend.”
