GBmoto Kawasaki’s Chris Walker has done his MCE British Superbike Showdown chances no harm, as he clinched the third step of the podium during the opening race at Cadwell Park yesterday.
The housewives favourite was the only GBmoto bike out on track on race day as his team-mate James Ellison had to pull out as he is still suffering from a serious leg injury, but Walker dug deep and held on to take his third podium of the year so far.
Walker hopes to secure his place in Showdown at the next round at Donington Park – a track he really enjoys. He is currently inside the top six with 160 points, so is definitely in Showdown contention.
“It’s been a brilliant weekend all in all for our side of the garage but it’s a massive shame for James that he wasn’t able to ride today after everything he’s done to get here,” said Walker.
“To get another podium in the first race was absolutely mega, and brilliant for the team to get back on the box where they belong. The second race was treacherous out there but to bring the bike home in eighth with Easton not finishing and Dan finishing behind it’s a good result and a much better position than when we came here.
“We’ve now got one more round to go before the Showdown begins and with Donington Park being my favourite circuit and one I love riding at, I’m confident we can walk away in the top six. Hopefully we’ll see James back with us and up at the sharp end where he belongs too.”
