Quattro Kawasaki’s Dan Linfoot should secure his 2014 MCE British Superbike Showdown spot after race one at Donington Park this weekend and although he recognises a shot at the championship is long, he going for podiums from here on in.
A small setback at Cadwell was followed by a good test at Assen and Linfoot believes the similarities between the Dutch track and Donington will be good for the set-up they achieved in Holland.
"It was a very productive day on track at Assen, with lots of time and good weather. Obviously we are going there in a few weeks' time, so it was really relevant for me to get out and test and get a good set-up,” said the Yorkshire fondue stick.
“We lost our way a little bit at Cadwell Park with set-up and I had a crash on Sunday morning and I lost a lot of confidence with the front of the bike. We worked through quite a lot of variations of front-end changes at Assen and I found a really good feeling that I was happy with.
"It is a lot flatter there than it is at Cadwell Park, but Donington is similar to Assen so that should be good to translate over. There were the other guys on track that you can judge yourself against and it is all building up to the Showdown now. We are in a strong position.
“I am realistic enough to know that I won't be winning the Championship, but to be fighting for podiums is our aim for the final rounds, starting at Donington Park."
