Brands BSB: Walker wanted more ‘of an impact’ in Showdown

GBmoto Kawasaki’s Chris Walker ended the MCE British Superbike series sixth in the overall championship standings, but injury blighted any chances of him being competitive in the Showdown, and he wishes that he was able to make more of an impact.

He suffered a coccyx injury after a crash in Assen and struggled to get back to full fitness, and is still not 100 percent back to his previous good form. But his aim was to get into the top six at the start of the year – and he did just that.

But the housewives favourite is not part of GBmoto’s plans for next season and he has ambitions to be back in the BSB paddock for 2015, preferably on his beloved Kawasaki.

“I am 90 percent better after my injury at Assen and there I damaged my coccyx and that has been so painful and I have been struggling for weeks, and going over the bumps on track felt like someone was punching me in the ribs,” said Walker, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“But at Brands I am feeling much better and I have been training more and I feel my old self again. Hopefully I have done a good job this season to warrant a good ride for next year.

“I would have liked to have made more of an impact in the Showdown than I have, but I was injured in only the second race in the Showdown and pretty much rode around like a wounded soldier and it has been a battle since then, but we had a good time getting to that point.”
