Honda Racing's Dan Linfoot has never completed a 'one lap attack' Superpole until this afternoon, but a 1'48.427 placed has Fireblade third on the MCE British Superbike starting grid for race one at Snetterton.
Linfoot rounds off the front row and is joined by title fighters, Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne and JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam. The new dad aimed for the front and second row before the qualifying sessions, and it was mission accomplished for the Northerner.
Linfoot did feel the pressure slightly with the new format but did enough to go P2. But the previous bad weather meant that he was only able to string a few laps together, but he is now focusing on getting on the rostrum and winning some silverware on Sunday.
"Happy with the outcome. To have a front row with my first ever Superpole I am happy with. It is my first ever time of doing a one lap attack," said Linfoot, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
"I have done a little bit of testing for it if you like, but this is a lot different with the fans and the big bikes and on the citing lap you put so much pressure on yourself - saying I have got one chance and I can't make a mistake.
"But I have got to be as fast as I can. So I will take it for now but for me if I am on the front two rows I am happy and I have done that. Now I shift focus to get podiums tomorrow and get points after my crashes earlier on in the year.
"I have done six and sevens lap runs, nothing over ten. The usual guys will be strong but just want to do my own thing and bring back some more silverware and podium points."
