Briggs Equipment BMW’s Jake Dixon had a solid MCE British Superbike free practice session at Oulton Park, and his 1’34.860 in FP2 was only fourth tenths off lap record pace.
Dixon then placed his S1000RR third fastest in seond practice at the Cheshire track. But the Dover native was struggling with braking and turning but a change to his bike in the final free practice outing of the day meant that he was able to improve his pace to make his way up the timing-screens.
But the youngster is not getting ahead of himself and has targeted three top ten finishes for the triple header this weekend, and felt happy today on the zero rear and SC1 front tyre compounds.
“It was a good two laps to be fair. We made a change to the bike in the last run and it made the difference and we had been struggling for braking and turning and we found that, and the lap time came by just making those changes,” said Dixon, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“It is all good, but we have got three races this weekend and you have got to have a good qualifying and a good race tomorrow to get a good grid position for Sunday too.
“Three top ten finishes this weekend I will be happy with that. We used a zero rear and a one front tyre, we will make some few improvements for tomorrow and it will be only minor now, and try to go fast again.”
