Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne has been declared unfit to take part in both MCE British Superbike races at Donington Park today after a crash during warm-up left him concussed.
The defending champion has been advised by the series medical team to take no further part in track proceeding’s today. The title challenger fell at Craner Curves after he had just set the second fastest time during the session, with a 1’29.833. Byrne was then taken by ambulance to the medical centre.
Team boss Paul Bird confirmed to bikesportnews.com that Byrne is unable to race. Initially the team thought he would be OK, then medical staff revealed that Byrne is suffering from symptoms of concussion.
