JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Luke Mossey has one goal in mind this MCE British Superbike race weekend at the Brands Hatch Indy track, and that is to bag his debut win in the blue riband class.
The local rider has been smashing the lap record during the free practice sessions, and was the first rider to lap a sub 45 at the Kent track. He was narrowly edged by McAMS Yamaha's James Ellison during qualifying, and during Superpole he was not outside the top three times throughout the entire session.
Mossey clocked a 44.931, and was only two tenths slower than Ellison. He starts the opening race from the front row in second and has a good shot of clinching his maiden BSB win.
The ZX-10RR man is benefiting from an engine upgrade and it has given him added pace, compared to Donington where the team were using last year's engine.
"Straight from Friday morning, when we put the bike out it has been perfect for me. We had our upgrade of our 2017 engine from Donington, where we had last year's engine, so that is a massive step forward for me and Leon," said Mossey at the track.
"Just happy to be on the front row, a little bit disappointing that we didn't get on pole but that was a monster lap from James and fair play to him. We have done our homework this weekend with race runs and cant wait to get started tomorrow morning.
"I think I have got the speed, and I am not here to make up the numbers I am always been brought up to be here to win. As long as we keep on wracking up podiums it is great, but it is starting to niggle me now that we have not got our first race win, and hopefully we can turn that around this weekend maybe - but our time will come."
