JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey will start the opening MCE British Superbike race at Oulton Park from the front row, but the ZX-10RR rider is ‘disappointed’ after a gearing mistake cost him time during the final qualifying session.
But Mossey was still able to put down a respectable 1’34.744, but he felt that he could have done a low 1’34, before spots of rain started to fall out on the track. Q3 started off dry - albeit very briefly and that is when the Kawasaki rider set his fastest lap.
P3 is still a great start for Mossey and off the back of doing the double at the last round at Brands Hatch Indy he is only aiming for race wins, as ‘second is not good enough’ for the rider who currently lies second in the overall championship standings.
“I am really disappointed to be fair. When on a quick lap I accidently went down too many gears going into the chicane and then I tried to re-correct it and put myself into a muddle but still did a 1’34.7,” said Mossey at the circuit.
“But the drizzle started to come down and I still think I could have done a low 1’34. I know that I could have done a better lap time, but when I came around I saw I was P3 so I
am happy to be on the front row.
“I have a good race pace on the harder tyre so I am looking forward to the races tomorrow and hope to be back on the podium. The double win was definitely a confidence boost and we know that we can win races. Second is not good enough anymore as I want to win.”
