Silverstone BSB: Elliott awarded first win after Mackenzie takes penalty

OMG Suzuki’s Josh Elliott has been awarded his maiden Bennetts British Superbike victory after initial race one winner Tarran Mackenzie was slapped with a time penalty.

The McAMS Yamaha rider took victory over the line after knocking team-mate and race-long leader Jason O’Halloran onto the deck, but race direction handed the Scotsman a three second penalty.

A statement from BSB bosses reads:

“Long Lap equivalent time penalty of 3 seconds imposed on 95 (Tarran Mackenzie) for contact causing 22 (Jason O’Halloran) to crash at Turn 6 on Lap 30.”

The ruling means Mackenzie takes second while Be Wiser Ducati's Scott Redding maintains third.
