Oulton BSB: Hickman to continue setup and electronics work

Smiths BMW’s Peter Hickman appears pleased with the work done so far with the new S1000RR and will continue to work on setup and electronics strategies at this weekend’s Oulton Bennetts British Superbike round.

Hickman’s team only took delivery of the new model six weeks ago so have been flat out just trying to take all the trick electronics off and add the Motec spec-ECU, as well as the myriad other changes that have to be made.

“I’m really looking forward to Oulton Park this weekend; we made great progress at Silverstone and the bike gets better every time I ride it,” said Hickman.

At the Oulton Park test we made another step forward and were a lot closer to the front with the addition of a new swing-arm and other parts.

“From that test we’ve learnt more again and we will come into this weekend raring to go with another set of new electronic strategies and set-up changes so we’re looking for two much stronger results on Monday.

“The Smiths Racing team are still working around the clock for me and James and we can’t thank them enough for what they’re doing and have achieved so far.”
