MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews had a sleepless dash to join his team-mate Julien Da Costa in the French GSR Kawasaki team at Le Mans after discovering he hadn't taken his passport to the Brands Hatch round.
Andrews, who rode through a wall of pain for eighth and 11th-place finishes on Monday, eventually got to the Le Mans circuit at 9.30am on Tuesday morning to begin practice in the afternoon.
"I got a early-morning ferry and when I got to Le Mans, I had to sign on, go for a medical, so I didn't have any time at all to sleep, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be when I got on the bike," said the Evesham man.
"We've swapped paint with a few riders but not because I was tired but because some of the riders out here are so slow. I was going up the main straight once and I caught the guy in front so quickly, I couldn't believe it, and he wasn't touring.
"I have had to take some very interesting lines through some corners just to stay out of the way of some people here because they're going so slowly, you can't be sure where they are going to turn in.
"I'm looking forward to it though. It's a prestigious event and obviously Julien and I would love to win."
