Andrews to contest Superstock with RAF Reserves Honda

Former British Superbike front-runner and burgeoning roads specialist Simon Andrews has signed to ride with the works-backed RAF Reserves Honda squad alongside his TT Legends Endurance duties.

The Evesham rider is almost fully recovered from the Isle of Man horror smash that ended his season in June last year and is looking forward to contesting the TT and Pirelli National Superstock 1000 classes, as well as continuing with World Endurance alongside John McGuinness and Michael Rutter.

"It was an project that I was very enthusiastic about from the outset. I am so keen to get back to the roads as there is a lot of unfinished business there and to be able to get the bike time I need on short circuits is a great opportunity," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com last night.

"The team will share data with the other UK Honda squads and I am hoping that will enable me to make a serious challenge for the Superstock title - saying that, there are a lot of quick guys in it so it won't be easy.

"I think together we will make a good team, who knows, they may even get me signing up to the RAF Reserves at this rate, keep me sharp in the off-season."
