Series leader Leon Haslam has revealed he’s prepared for any weather condition after finding good tyre options and making big strides with tyre life.
JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s main man missed out on pole position by almost a quarter of a second to both Taz Mackenzie and top qualifier Jake Dixon, but is confident in his progress with race rubber this weekend and feels tomorrow’s races could come down to track temperatures.
But no matter the weather, Haslam is ready and looking to put his and the team’s tests into action in the two 18-lap scraps.
“I’ve been working a lot with race tyres and this place always throws a bit of a curve ball with the cooler temperatures,” he said. “I feel really confident and depending on what the temperature is we’ve got a good option both ways.
“I’m one of the fastest on hard and soft tyre race pace and I feel we’ve made some really good steps this year with tyre life and I’ve done full distance on both.
“I’d rather be on pole, but that’s the way it is. Times are close, I’m feeling pretty positive with the bike and I love Assen anyway so I’m looking forward to the battle.”
