Double Assen winner and title favourite Leon Haslam says he is determined to win the championship in the first race at Brands Hatch.
The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider will carry a 61-point lead into the final round in a fortnight, and with 75 still available, he wants to seal the deal on Saturday.
“I’m going to be going all out. I want to win it on Saturday at Brands,” he told Bikesport News. “Jake’s got to go win all three races and for me to not finish.
“I want to get the championship with a win on Saturday, that’d be my dream but if I don’t win it then, I’m still going to be going all out on Sunday.”
Haslam famously lost out on title honours a year ago when it all went wrong at the final round.
And with the memories of that moment still painful, he is determined not to let the same thing happen this time.
“I want to build on the success we’ve had here today,” he added. “We’ve had some really good battles strategically over the weekend. We planned the tyres, planned the setup and everything and for it to work out and get my 14th win of the year at this point is fantastic.
“Last year I was quite calm, I had a big lead and we had three mechanical issues that took me out of all three races. That was out of my hands but so far this year we’ve had a faultless year.
“The results speak for themselves, no matter what happens at Brands I can go there with my head high and hopefully we can get the championship we’ve missed out on a few times before.”
